24-7 SPYZ
Face The Day 2006 There are not many rock bands from 1980s that are still good and still matter to the world of rock. Most would consider bands like U2 and Kings X to be a part of that list. 24-7 SPYZ should be on that list as well.
HMS4L (Heavy Metal Soul For Life) is a credo for the band (& their fans) and this cd represents it really, really well. Go buy it now!
"SPYZ is DOPE" is one of the many things heard at a 24-7 SPYZ show; and by all accounts that statement still rings true! Face The Day is the first recording from 24-7 SPYZ since the outstanding 1996 recording Heavy Metal Soul By The Pound.
"Unknown Wellknown" leads the disc off and is straight to the point about SPYZs past and their history. Call it a bio-song or whatever you want to; call it good heavy rock/soul.
"Face The Day" funky bass, tight drums, heavy guitar, soulful vocals and a really good guitar solo.
"Waiting For The Sun" another tight track with soulful lead vocals, cool guitar
"Soul Sucker" great backing vocals with rhythm, signature
"Ride To Nowhere" good lyrics about drug use, tight musicianship as always
"Faithless" soul tune with a groove, great lyrics
"The Saturday Song" full of love, soul & jazz
"Angel" cool groove, not typical of rock but typical of SPYZ, cool jazzy guitar and feel
Almost forgot, excellent choices of songs to cover; Thin Lizzy's "Bad Reputatio"n & Sly's "Stand". Very cool!
To sum up, any fans of good rock should get this cd and get it now. 24-7 SPYZ are well known & appreciated with musicians & bands and finally SPYZ should be the same with mainstream rock fans as well.
