DAMONE

Out Here All Night

Island Records (2006)

review by Evil Dickie

Confession time, DAMONE was not on my radar before, as editor of badtastemusic.com, I feel like shit for not knowing about Massachusetts &  New England's own.

Back in 2002 & 2004, one of my staff members told me they need to be nominated for a BAD TASTE music award for Local Band Of The Year…they were, just go check it out http://www.badtastemusic.com/btawards2004.htm

Out Here All Night, the second major label release from DAMONE is an excellent recording, full of great rock or RAWK!  Bands should make cds like this more often. No pretentiousness and moody ass self-loathing mf's.  Rock with your ____ out!  Noelle's  vocals make it have more depth and quality than having some dude with tattoos up there dancin' around & actin' a fool.

“Now Is The Time” - leads the disc off with a quick ass metal guitar lead (in the vain of Iron Maiden, but kind of remind me of Randy Rhoads) into a ruggin’ hard rock rhythmic tune, double bass drums thrown in every once in a while…The band definitely loves metal & hard rock.

“Out Here All Night” (title track) – nuff' said, rock on!

“What We Came Here For” – music very cool, vocals good as always…Buckcherry/AC/DC/The Darkness power riff…excellent chorus I know I will sing it back to them when I see them live

“Stabbed In The Heart” – mellow elements but still catchy with vocals,  guitar riffs, should be a great single on alternative radio on stations like WCYY, WFNX & WBRU

“On Your Speakers” – reminds me of Letters To Cleo, good poppy alt rock, great heavy guitar riff in the middle of the tune, cool little guitar solo

“Get Up And Go” – fast metal lead intro, catchy-ass backing vocals

“Outta My Way” – sounds like Poison at the beginning and that’s cool…80’s hard rock, kind of glam but still very good

“Wasted Years” - great version of the Iron Maiden classic - outstanding acoustic slower version, outstanding vocals and they even played that Maiden signature lead/solo

On the service many can vocally compare DAMONE to bands like The Donnas, Letters To Cleo & others...Musically I hear bands like AC/DC, Iron Maiden (guitar leads), The Darkness & Buckcherry.

I missed the boat on DAMONE early in their career. Well the boat has landed on my head and I am listening intently now!  I can't wait to see them this summer on the Warped Tour.  Come join me...
