JUDAS PRIEST

Live Vengeance '82

(DVD)

Sony Music 2006

by Jim Savard

2005 was a pivotal year for Judas Priest fans. Former front-man Rob Halford came back

to Priest with a vengeance and they released a super cd called Angel of Retribution.

His arrival back to Priest has led the fans screaming for more.

In 2006 the band and Sony BMG music did the fans justice and released a Judas Priest

concert from the Screaming for Vengeance tour in 1982. Now this may seem a bit confusing

as to why the band would put out a show that was over 20 years old. That is the exact point. They brought back the lead singer and now they wanted to share some of the power from

the past with their fans.

This is a basic style concert. You are not going to get any fancy editing, no cool tricks.

Nothing.  In fact some of the footage is that old time 80's style. With the camera focusing

on members and they are moving so slow, I guess that was a major thing in those days.

The concert footage looks like a home family video. And that is what makes this concert

special.

This show features such great classic Priest songs as "The Ripper", "You've Got Another

Thing Comin'", "Metal Gods", "Breaking the Law", "Heading Out to the Highway" and

"Living After Midnight". These are the songs in their infancy. The band is young and the

energy level and sound is way different than what Judas Priest offers. This show is the

perfect chance to let those who saw Priest 20 years ago, remember what it was like. And

for those who missed this, they now have the chance to see how raw and powerful Judas

Priest was when they first came out.
